Your say on newly appointed KCCA Executive Director

Jun 18, 2020

The Kampala Capital City Authority will soon be under the leadership of a new Executive Director.

We asked and you answered

Basing on New Vision's ‘Big Debate' we have been able to pull together a series of responses from our online audience on what they would like to see the new city boss do for Kampala.

#VisionBigDebate: The Kampala Capital City Authority will soon be under the leadership of a new Executive Director. What do you want the new city boss to do for Kampala?

President Yoweri Museveni nominated Kisaka as executive director, replacing Eng. Andrew Kitaka, who has held the position in an acting capacity since December 20, 2018. Museveni nominated Dr. Eng. David Luyimbazi Ssali, replacing Samuel Sserunkuuma; Dr. Daniel Okello Ayen as director of public health and environment and Grace Akullo as director of human resource and administration.

In an interesting twist, KCCA Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago's deputy, Sarah Kanyike, was also nominated to head the directorate of gender.

Charles Obira: Maybe the question or the issue would be like... Kampala has almost the following, the minister and the deputy minister, the Lord Mayor and the deputy, the woman MP, the MP, RCCs, Presidential Advisors on Kampala, to mention but a few. What are they doing?

I see that because they are too many leaders in leadership, others begin to fight one another, some sleep on duty, and hence, work stalls. Thank you.

Ateenyi Bajj: She has the mandate of he who appointed her! I find it funny now that you are asking people after she has already been awarded the office and now you are doing things vice versa, instead of asking us first you are asking us last. Such a practice of handpicking makes it difficult for such people to account to the people. When they reach offices they become gods and goddesses.

Isaaks Cunnilingham: A better jam-free road network in the business district and reliable public transport. This is the heartbeat of commerce and it must be vibrant around the clock. The heart never stops beating.

Tumusiime Geoffrey: I thought the appointing authority will give her the job description. The appointment letter will clearly spell out her duties and responsibilities.

Kabiito Kato: A much cleaner and tidier Kampala particularly in the suburbs.

Ayamba Annet: If she was from the West comments would be flying.

Sylvia Grace Akankwasa: someone who is decisive, proactive, and incorruptible.

Christine Angela Nabbumba:  Make a few changes where possible then resign just like the wise Jennifer Musisi.

Edison Vigil:  She is big enough and has eyes that can see what is good and what is right as well as what needs to be changed.

Kachope Apuuli: Ensure a clean, organised & secure city.

Yesigye Brian: Ladies have lately proved to be best performers 👌👌 We wish her the best 🙏

Mahero Richard: Lukwago is a failure. When Jennifer left, what big achievement has he brought? LET THE NEW BOSS PREPARE FOR WAR.

Patrick Kayongo: Just start to clean the city and beautify it as Jennifer Musisi did.

Ahmed Kangave: it's very important to elevate our sisters in high positions, not just to exploit them but to give them full powers of authority.

Kakoole Abasi: Why is it that the President undermines Men? Who told him that men are not capable of doing that Job! She will also end up like Jennifer Musisi

Isabie Farouk Freeman: Baganda are being used against fellow Baganda to create divisions amongst themselves and now it works for Mr. President. Divide and rule strategy

Bobil Robert:  I hope she will not be reduced to fighting cheap political battles but focus on developing the city.

Asiimwe Mwiza: But the previous one organised our kibuga abit. We shall miss him. Let this one continue with the vision.

Chris Balikuddembe: Very dirty city that needs a genuine plan to make it clean and fresh, and remove unproductive projects from the city and make sure all roads are constructed fully and work together with your fellows to avoid inconveniences. Thank you.

Alex Nuwagaba: Dear Ugandans, those big people in offices travel but can't see what cities have and be done in Kampala? I wonder what the Executive Director and Minister for Kampala do. What does Nakasero market do in the city center?

Norbs Timothy: saying something here is wastage of my data, if they can't fulfill their own promises how about when we task them?

Pastorahumuza Williamsjunior: Madam Director should definitely put on the exact shoes 😂😉 as our comrade ED Musisi... And to remember God who lifts 😇 people from grassland to paradise.

Mpagi Moses: All leadership comes from God. All the best to her. May the good Lord guide her to serve the people for the best of the city and country at large. Congratulations.

Moses Okello: Make all KCCA employees reapply for jobs and improve on Hospitals, schools, drainage manholes, organise taxis, and plan for better infrastructure development.

St-Charles Lydia Sseruwagi: If she will act like mukyala Musisi, I am seeing the KCCA we need. I need roads first.

Mwaule Peter: Bridge the divide between the mayor and herself as ED, better what is in place, implement what the predecessors had planned on paper.

Francis Erimu: Kaguta, Kitaka, and now Kisaka?? You mean it's the only letter that's Capable?

Erick Chahasi: She should sphere head the rapid modernisation of the city infrastructure and establish a strong administrative structure of running the KCCA affairs.

Eddy Rama: To make Kampala beautiful not a local city like old school.

Ochana Fred Arnold: She should take up the job. Even if Lukwago is mad or right, this is her career here on the line. How many times do you get a presidential appointment in real life? Go for it Dorothy Kisaka. Lukwago will never match this offer except if he has to surrender the Mulloodi seat, which is elective and you will not win !!

Nimulodi Zuni: Too much politics in Uganda nothing she will do.

Odoch Stephen: Office without power always makes no sense to me.

Akida Parrots: Appoint her relatives in various capacities in the KCCA just as it is a case to all government agencies and ministries.

Rammy Tom Kasaija: Kampala seems not to be a city at all, with those vendors on the streets downtown, ramshackle structures in Kisenyi. She and her team have to come up with collective measures to vacate the vendors and plan for the city again. Though many people will be affected.

John Paul Ojokuna:  Do we really have options as Ugandans? Go and ask the three arms of government.

Susan Stacy: Stop the noise pollution around the city. Very loud music from those lousy shops, churches, and bars.

Isidore Onyango: Women provide to us greatly yet they are favored in high positions. Guess what man in Uganda does!

Baluku Gedion: Harmonize the staff.

Ron Mg: Eliminate politics from service provision.

Just Dons Ambrosy:  To eat her money as others did and wait to be chased that is all.

Mugume Eria:  Eliminate all those who think to know how to oppose and they're obstructing development like the likes of Lukwago.

Alex Nuwagaba: Kampala is ranked 172 in towns that are not clean in Africa yet the new ED will be pocketing sh50mper month as salary minus fuel and expensive cars. My point is why cant that money be used in buying city lights, trucks for garbage collection??? The whole town stinks.

Sancho Abdalah: Since we are not the ones who nominated her, let her do what her boss who nominated her wants her to do.

Matthew Mwesigwa: She should do her best to improve the transport system in the city for the good of everyone including the taxi and boda guys. she should also restore the city carnival just like it was with Jennifer.

Manirakiza Robert Mwalimu Kisaka and Kitaka are complementary, Since Kisaka has come our city is going to embrace more trees growing and going green.

Josh Olic: I am less concerned about Kampala issues maybe if she has a daughter she can let me know.

Ashley K Hamuza: Nothing she can do in Kampala.

Rogers Raks Silver: It doesn't make sense.... because she will be used as a puppet and later dumped.

Robert Kukiriza: She should focus and develop the city to its full capacity of being the real capital city of the Pearl of Africa and be clean, well organized, no more Boda-bodas which are causing chaos and accidents. Mini taxis out and bring in buses.

Blackman Spear:  Snow To put the city back at the level Musisi had taken.

Turinawe Michael: Is it nominating or appointing?

Lwanga Frank:  Get rid of the trade and transport disorder that has been created by the stubborn and bigheaded defiant and rowdy street vendors and the taxi drivers and bodaboda guys.

Maris Arineitwe:  I urge her not to accept that job.

Makwasi Enos Enny:  Does my opinion matter anyway?

Bagambe Vicent: New vision you need to get information from us and you feed the president, honestly, how are we concerned about the new appointment.

Mpangire Moses Mwesigwa:  I implore her to fast track the construction of Philip Omodi stadium and make KCCA FC the best brand of a football game in East Africa and Africa.

Ssenyonjo Yahaya:  You are smiling now but you will regret accepting that job in the near future.

Bruno Mcreign:  A special thank you to Jennifer Musisi.

Andrew Masaba: Talk to your predecessor and make some notes
