Meanwhile, Dr. Julius Bamwine, the district health officer (DHO), has emphasized the need to continue observing COVID-19 control measures including hand-washing, social distancing, and staying at home to stem the spread of the virus.

"This period is crucial because, after the opening of public transport, a lot of people are coming into the district from distant places like Kampala and other areas.
So, there is a risk that someone can bring the virus into the district, a reason why we must stay vigilant," said Bamwine, while addressing the media on Friday.

The district has registered 125 alerts from the public since Uganda's first COVID-19 case and results for 160 suspected virus carriers returned, all negative. 13 of the suspected people were hospitalized but were also found negative and discharged.
