KAMPALA - The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr Stephen Kaziimba, Wednesday hosted a section of journalists to a luncheon in appreciation for their service to the church.
The journalists, picked from across section of media houses in Uganda, especially those who have been covering the church, were hosted at Namirembe Guest House.
"I want to thank all the media houses for our partnership. I want to thank you very much for the job well done," Kaziimba told journalists as he welcomed them.
He said that through the airtime offered to the church every Sunday for its services, online followers for the church has grown tremendously during this COVID-19 period.
"It is you people here who make leaders and can also fail leaders... We are grateful for your work. My prayer is that God blesses you," he said
Quoting 1 Corinthians 3:1, he urged journalists to recognise that they and the church are co-workers in God's service, and each is recruited by God to play a part.
"You are God's servants. You have been appointed to do God's work using your gifts. Use it well," he said.
On behalf of journalists, Maurice Mugisha, the UBC Managing Director, thanked the Archbishop and his team for risking their lives by inviting the media, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also thanked the church for giving media houses the content to keep them running.
The luncheon was also attended by other prelates and administrators of the church including the Provincial Secretary Rev. Can. Capt. William Ongeng.
