COVID-19: Uganda registers eight new cases

To date, Uganda has not registered any COVID-19 related death. A total of 119 people have recovered.

KAMPALA - Uganda has confirmed another eight positive cases of coronavirus, from 2,423 samples tested yesterday among truck drivers, alerts and contacts.

This takes the country's coronavirus tally to 665 cases. The eight include four cases from truckers who arrived into the country from South Sudan via Elegu border and Tanzania via Mutukula point of entry. The other four are from alerts and contacts to the previously confirmed cases; 2 from Kyotera, 1 from Kayunga and 1 from Amuru.

An additional 31 foreign truck drivers who tested positive were handed over to their respective country of origin. These include 16 Kenyans, 8 Tanzanians, 5 Eritreans, 1 Burundian and 1 South Sudanese.

To date, Uganda has not registered any COVID-19 related death.  A total of 119 people have recovered.
