UPDF officer murdered, two suspects arrested

The Police in Mayuge district is investigating the unclear circumstances surrounding the murder of a UPDF officer whose lifeless body was recovered on Monday morning while lying at Bridge Zone, located in Magamaga town Council in Mayuge district.

Busoga East Police Spokesperson James Mubi, identified the deceased as Sergeant Samson Emodong Ocan, attached to Magamaga army barracks. 

"The progress so far is very good because we have arrested two female suspects to help us with investigations and we are yet to arrest more," Mubi said.

He also revealed that they recovered the deceased's bag and a big stone which the assailants allegedly used to hit him before they strangled his neck.

"This is the second murder incident to be registered in the same area in a space of one year," Mubi said. 

In the first incident, one Henry Basoga, a barber, was shot dead and his body was dumped in the same area. 

Police says, two male suspects were also arrested in that regard as the hunt for more suspects continue.
