The social distancing myth in Kikuubo

People appear to flout social distancing rules as they go about their activities in kikuubo, a day after the government eased lockdown to allow free movement of private vehicles.

With the lockdown eased in Uganda, private car owners and business people whose shops are not attached to arcades, are going on with their businesses like nothing ever happened a few months back. 

 

 

 

Richard Sanya strolled through with his camera and captured a few pictures. 

 

 

 

One of the busiest places at the moment is kikuubo, a well-known business hub in downtown Kampala that brings together traders dealing in all sorts of merchandise, in both wholesale and retail. 

 

However, social distancing is unlikely to hold up without a safety net for micro-entrepreneurs going on about their business in this long business corridor, as people appear to be flouting the directives given.
