Members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Parliament have rejected the idea of forming constituency COVID-19 task forces parallel to the district task forces, where they can channel support to their electorate.

The MPs expressed fear that the proposal to form constituency COVID-19 task forces through which they can channel support to their electorate to cope with challenges brought about by the lockdown would further incite the public against them.

They said, given the backlash and hostility they have suffered for receiving sh20m from the parliamentary commission to fight against COVID-19, accepting to form constituency task forces where they can be facilitated to support their electorate would cause them more trouble.

The Government Chief Whip, Ruth Nankabirwa has also spoken up about the sh50b that the Government is allegedly planning to allocate to Parliament to facilitate the constituency COVID-19 task force.
