Luckily for him, life in South Korea is returning to normal and the fans of the Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers have made it all bearable.

Uganda's lockdown meant that volleyball star Daudi Okello could not return home and stay with his family.

Luckily for him, life in South Korea is returning to normal and the fans of the Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers have made it all bearable.

"People recognise me easily at shopping malls and restaurants. They even know my car. volleyball is loved here so much," Okello said of his newfound stardom.

For someone who is not as popular in Uganda, it's a daunting but exciting experience.

"I am in Cheonan City and each city at least has a team in the league. The fact that it's home and away basis for the playing format, it makes be known in most parts of the country," Okello explains.

His biggest focus at the moment is in trying to get his contract with Cheonan extended and reports on the contract extension are positive.

He is working on taking part in the V League foreign players trials even though it's reported that a deal has been reached between him and Cheonan. 47 foreign players are expected to take part in the trial and all will compete for one place in each of the seven V league teams.

This year, they will not gather the players in one place as they did previously, but they will look at individuals based on submission videos due to COVID-19.

If all goes according to plan, then Okello will get a chance for a full season with the Korean Side in which he hopes he can help them reclaim the title.
