Road to DRC, Rwanda diverted in Ntungamo over pavement failure

Trucks heading to Rwanda will use Mirama hills road while those going to DRC can use Mbarara-Ishaka-Katunguru-Ishasha or Mbarara-Ishaka-Kikorongo-Mpondwe roads.

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has announced temporary diversion of roads to Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after experiencing a pavement failure at Kaharo along Ntungamo-Kabale road, about 18km to Kabale town.

According to UNRA,the pavement failure is attributed to the torrential rains that have led to landslides in the area.

This has forced UNRA to close the Ntungamo-Kabale Highway at Kaharo temporarily and advised truck drivers who were using that road to access other neighbouring countries to use other diversions.

Trucks heading to Rwanda will use Mirama hills road while those going to DRC can use Mbarara-Ishaka-Katunguru-Ishasha or Mbarara-Ishaka-Kikorongo-Mpondwe roads.

Meanwhile the UNRA maintenance team in Kabale has closed off one lane to traffic and has commenced mobilisation of materials to reinstate the failed embarkment and restore traffic flow.
