KAMPALA - Residents of Kasubi, a Kampala suburb have received food relief from the government.

Foodstuffs distributed included maize flour, beans, sugar, and powdered milk for the elderly and infants.

Najjemba Hellen, a resident of Kasubi zone I, where the distribution started was excited to receive food.

"I'm very happy to receive this package, the situation had been worsened by extension of quarantine, long live Museveni," Najjemba stated.

Peter Tamale, the LC II Chairman of Kasubi zone applauded the government for the food support.

"I really want to appreciate the government for having implemented the food relief programme for the vulnerable people and the entire community, because the fact is the people were worse off," Tamale said.

According to Tamale, Kasubi parish is comprised of 10 zones with a population of 70,000. He, therefore, urged residents of Kasubi to keep calm that everyone is going to get food.

"I want everyone to be patient and calm, we have enough food that is going to reach everyone on his/ her doorstep," Tamale added.

Food was distributed door to door and the amount distributed depended on the number of people in a household.

However, some residents demanded charcoal and cooking oil.
