ENTEBBE - The Police in Entebbe have arrested four suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of a German national.

Fredrick Rudel, a 70-year old German was last week murdered by assailants.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango identified the suspects as Danialia Jackeline, Dakanimya Eria, Atwiine Jacky Jalia and Chega Babra.

He said the four were still being detained at Entebbe Police Station on murder charges as investigations continue.

According to Onyango, the case was reported on April 3, 2020, at about 6pm at Mpala Police Station in Entebbe municipality, by Lieutenant Jimmy Bwambale a pilot attached to Uganda People's Defence Air Force.

Onyango said preliminary information indicates that the deceased had stayed in the country for five years.

At the time of his death, Rudel was allegedly married to Jalia Atwiine in a civil marriage for about three years but were staying separately of late.

According to Onyango, the deceased's part-time maid one Chega Babrah Precious came and knocked the gate but there was no response.  "This raised suspicion of the reporter who happens to be the neighbour," he said.

According to police information, the deceased was strangled in his enclosed compound and the body later dragged to his bedroom.

"The Crime scene was thoroughly examined by the Division CID Officer, divisional scene of crime officers and the homicide team".

The body was later taken to Mulago City Mortuary pending postmortem.

Onyango said the suspects were key in the investigations of the murder.
