USPA president Patrick Kanyomozi said that holding the merged function will still depend on government guidelines regarding public gatherings.

"We appeal to sportsmen and women to bear with the situation. I assure you that the functions shall be held as the situation allows. But as USPA we advise all sportsmen and women to be alert and abide by the government guidelines," Kanyomozi noted.

He said that while most of the individual winners for each discipline were announced, the battle was still on for the overall sports personality of the year.

Contenders are runners Joshua Cheptegei and Halima Nakaayi with netball player Mary Nuba
