Catholic devotees of St. Jude Thaddeus converged Sunday at the national devotion shrine at Naguru, in Nakawa Division, for the closing ceremony of their first solemn novena.

In the Catholic tradition, St. Jude Thaddeus is believed to be the Patron of hopeless cases. Catholics are deeply convinced that if they pray through the intercession of St. Jude, they get all their desired favours and break-through.

The devotees of St. Jude pray a mandatory novena (a nine-day devotional prayer) to St. Jude.

This year's first solemn Novena at Our Lady and St. Jude Thaddeus Shrine Naggulu was concluded Sunday during a solemn Mass that was presided over by Fr. Bonaventura Sebyanzi.

The parish-priest of Naggulu, Fr. Godfrey Kyeyune, his curates, Fr. Joseph Kaseeta ad Fr. Ignatius Mbaziira, also concelebrated.

Speaking to the devotees during the function, Fr. Kyeyune asked the devotees of St. Jude to be even more prayerful during this trying time, when the world is being threatened by the coronavirus pandemic.

He urged the Christians to seek God's help and protection through the intercession of St. Jude Thaddeus.

"Brethren, coronavirus is real. It is a serious threat. Many interventions have been made on the local and international level to contain the pandemic that has already claimed many lives. But as believers, we know that God is the Lord and master of every situation. So, let us seek his help and protection."

Fr. Kyeyune later asked the Christians to strengthen their devotion to St. Jude Thaddeus and always, to seek his intercession.
