Gen. Tumukunde faces treason charges

GEN. TUMUKUNDE

Gen. Henry Tumukunde has reportedly been taken to Kibuli Police CID headquarters after his arrest on Thursday evening.

By 9:30 pm, Thursday evening, Tumukunde was expected to record a statement with CID chief Grace Akullo and Womanya.

 Tumukunde's arrest follows a security meeting held on Wednesday at President's office near Parliament in which it was resolved that he is arrested and charged.

Sources indicate that he will be charged with treason, although no official communication has been released regarding his crime.

After he declared his presidential ambition, Tumukunde gave out interviews with various media outlets and mentioned some of the things which sources say were prejudicial to the good conduct of the army.

some of the issues he talked about include the fact that many officers have been blocked from retiring from the army and the frosty relationship between Uganda and Rwanda.
