According to Maria, the innovator of Global Goals, the aim of the gala is to create awareness for the 17 sustainable development goals.

All is set for the international women's day celebrations come this Sunday at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo in the Global Goals world cup East Africa.

According to Jennifer Nakiyimba the captain of Lawyers and Business team, playing for sustainable development goal number one which is zero poverty are ready to win.

 
"We are ready to use our experience that we used in Nairobi in 2017 in the same poverty and we have been training seriously," Nakiyimba said.

"We are playing for goal number one because it's cross-cutting in that if there is no poverty someone can be able to put everything in place," Nakiyimba added.

This women's day soccer gala will start with 34 amateur football teams for them to get a firsthand feel of playing football.
