The Police in Mayuge district have arrested a father and daughter for selling fake drugs, which they claimed were vaccines for the coronavirus.

The Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, says Kaire Saidi, a herbalist and his daughter Kaire Amina, are both residents of Wante village, Imayiro sub-county in Mayuge district.

The two are believed to have visited a number of families belonging the Ahmadiyya Muslim sect, telling them they had discovered a vaccine for coronavirus, currently spreading in parts of Asia and Europe.

"The people mostly women and children purchased the said vaccine at a fee that was negotiated between the seller and the buyer. The duo never sold to anyone outside the Muslim sect," said Enanga.

Enanga said the Police was tipped off by concerned members of the community who found it strange that the two were selling substances claiming to be vaccines.

Enanga says two small plastic bottles were recovered and have since been submitted to the Forensic Laboratory for further examination.
