Child torture suspect appears before court

Fortunate Badaru, 33, who featured in video footage that went viral while tormenting a three-year-old toddler, was charged with aggravated torture, a case she denied to have committed.
 
Kira Chief Magistrate, Ruth Nabaasa, remanded her to Luzira prison until March 11, 2020.
 
The victim Anna Gabriella is the daughter of Badaru's friend Alesi Azaru who was on a mission in Somalia.
 
Badaru‘s neighbours reportedly recorded video clips of the child being tortured and reported the case to Police.

Museveni passes out UPDF commandos


President Yoweri Museveni has passed out UPDF commandos after undergoing a 16 months qualification course of Special Forces.

This is the 4th intake of it's kind and was conducted at Butiaba Marines training School in Buliisa District.

The President expressed satisfaction with the quality of training the special Forces received as portrayed by the multiple demonstrations conducted by the trainees.

LDC launches golden jubilee

Law Development Centre(LDC) set to open a branch in Lira this October, to cater for students in the north. This was revealed by the secretary LDC, Didas Bakunzi, at the Uganda Media Centre. He also said LDC will mark 50 years and the celebrations will be launched this Friday with a walk from LDC to the high court in Kampala.

The chief walker will be Vice President Edward Ssekandi. The funds collected from the walk will go towards tuition fees for disadvantaged students who want to study law.

PAC summons Judiciary PS


The former Judiciary permanent secretary Kagole Kivumbi and the current PS Pius Bigirimana appeared before the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to answer queries concerning foreign travels of top judiciary officials.
