Eight die in Luwero motor accident

The driver’s cabin of the prisons truck flew off, killing the unidentified truck driver inside.

Eight people died instantly and several others were injured critically Friday afternoon when a Kampala bound commuter minibus collided with a Uganda prisons truck along the Luwero- Kawempe highway in Luweero District.

The accident happened at Kibisi near Wobulenzi town happened when the prisons truck that was going down a slope, lost control later running over the oncoming taxi, crushing the commuter taxi passengers inside.

Luweero police who rushed to the bloodstained scene had not yet established the identities of the dead victims whose bodies got shattered. Some of the unidentified bodies remained trapped inside the wreckage of the commuter taxi.

Luwero District police commander blamed the accident on the poor mechanical condition of the prisons truck which failed to break as it went down a slope thus ramming into the taxi.
