Incidentally, pulling does not have an age limit. You can pull even when you are 50, after menopause. The labia will respond to the pulling pressure and elongate.

SEXUALITY

Recently, Uganda's State minister for gender and culture Peace Mutuuzo came out to condemn pulling, a cultural practice of lengthening the labia minora through manual manipulation or physical equipment.

"Actually, she intended to condemn the practice of forcing children at a young age to go pulling," says New Vision's Hilary Bainemigisha, best known as Dr. Love.

"When children are in P.6 or P.7, some schools take them through rituals of pulling (also called 'visiting the bush'), which inadvertently makes them aware of their sexuality at that age.

"Incidentally, pulling does not have an age limit. You can pull even when you are 50, even after menopause. The labia will respond to the pulling pressure and elongate," says Dr. Love.
