Akope, Kitata strengthen their bid in Karen Open

The tightly contested championship has Kenya’s Dismas Indiza and Zambia’s Madalisto Muthiya tied in third on 214 gross each, two and one strokes off the top two.

Uganda's Deo Akope and Willy Kitata made further progress after the third round, of the Karen country club leg of the Safari tour at Karen Golf Club in Nairobi yesterday.
Having made the cut in joint tenth position with a total gross score of 147 on Monday, Akope moved up the leader board having returned a three-under-par, 68 yesterday to move to fifth place.
Kitata also made further progress with a two-under, 69 to move to seventh place where he is currently tied with Kenya's Simon Ngige and Geoffrey Makokha on 216 gross after 54 holes.
It was only Dennis Anguyo that slipped three places down, from 12th to 15th having returned three-over 73 at the par71, course.
Heading into the last round of the sh108 tournament, Muthaiga Golf Club's Greg Snow who is looking for his fourth win on the tour is on top having shot a round of one-over 72 to take his total of the event to 212 gross, one stroke over overnight leader Rwanda's Aloys Nsabimana who shot 75 in the third round.

The tournament ends today with prizes to those that excelled in the 11 events of the tour an announcement of the top eight Kenyans and two non-Kenyan nationals that will have qualified to compete in the sh4b Kenya Open at the same course next month.
