Police make breakthrough in Bugiri murder case

The Police have made a breakthrough in the murder of Bugiri sheikh, Masuudi Mutumba.

Investigations have been going on since the murder last week and over 10 people have so far been arrested in connection with the murder.

However, on Thursday, Ali Byasaali Mugoya, the prime suspect in the gruesome murder made an extrajudicial statement at Makindye Magistrate's Court before the magistrate, Jude Okumu.

He was in the accompaniment of detectives from Kibuli CID headquarters, and Kampala Metropolitan Police Flying Squad headquarters.

Mugoya is jointly charged with three others, including his elder brother, Sulaiman Konta, a boda boda rider, one Ashraf Mugoya, also his brother, and John Gyagenda, a special hire driver.

Byasaali, works with SGA, a private security company, as a supervisor. 

While at court, he confessed to the murder, claiming the deceased was giving his family hard times as a result of a land case which they have been battling since 2012.

He also alleges that Sheikh Mutumba also bewitched his late father, who was also in the land case battle.
