KAMPALA - The Police are carrying out an investigation in which eight students were confined in a house in Biina Zone, Nakawa Division.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire stated that on Sunday (February 16) the police in Mutungo received a call at 9:00 PM from the Defense secretary of Mutungo Zone 5 indicating that there were some teenagers confined in a house, which was suspected to be a kidnap case.

Some of the victims were identified as Joshua Ainembabazi (14) a student of Light Academy, Eric Muwanguzi (17) a student of Lakeside College, Michael Nabaasa (14) a student at Trinity Senior Academy, Samson Musinguzi (17), Jessy Byamukama (22) a student of Makerere University pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and Fine Art, Benedict Sebunya(18) a student of Munta Royal College Bombo and Daniel Turyasenga (22)

"The premise was branded as "boys' mentorship" and belongs to one Kuteesa Godfrey. It was enclosed in a fence, hard to access and guarded by a local private guard, "Owoyesigyire said.

He noted that of the eight victims, four were juveniles and had been confined for over four weeks and the other four victims were detained in the place for close to four months.

They disclosed that upon interview they have been having only one meal per day.

He added that one of the victims, a female student 19 years old was raped by one Daniel Turyasenga who was also a victim and also served as the askari.

Turyasenga was found locked up in his room alone which was acting as a detention facility for him.

Luke further explained that it was reported that these victims who were all students would do drills every day.

He said that their parents took them to this premise for training because of their bad habits at home and also as a way of disciplining them.

"Investigations are ongoing to establish the facts from the victims' parents and we have opened up a case on unlawful confinement under Mutungo Police Station," Owoyoesigyire noted
