Security heightened ahead of Harvest Money Expo

Police has assured maximum security for exhibitors and the public who will attend Vision Group's Harvest Money Expo slated for February 14-16 at Mandela National Stadium.

"We have a combined team of security agencies to provide security which includes counter-terrorism, field police force, traffic police, fire brigade and the Uganda People's Defence Forces among other agencies," Kampala Metropolitan East Commander Michael Musani said.

He made the remarks during a preparatory security meeting at Mandela National Stadium this morning. Musani said everyone will have to undergo thorough security checks and search before accessing the stadium.

He urged the general public to cooperate with security once they are at the expo.

Vision Group Chief Executive Officer Robert Kabushenga revealed that all exhibitors will have identification tags for the 3-day annual event stressing that hawkers will not be allowed at the venue.

 He urged the public to come for the expo in large numbers, saying there will be a lot to learn or take home. Gates will be open at 8:00 am for the general public. 

Frank Kabushenga, the Administration Manager of Vision Group said the agriculture expo will offer a lot to learn and buy from hundreds of companies that deal in agro-inputs, such as seeds, fertilisers, animal feeds and vet drugs among other items.

Julius Turyamwijuka, the Managing Director of Fertilizer Organic Ltd said they have started preparations early so that by Friday they are ready to serve the people.

To tour the stalls, show-goers will pay sh10, 000 and for those who wish to attend training another sh10, 000 will be charged every day.
