UPDF soldier shoots three dead in Gulu

According to Okema, Corporal Okello is on the run and the motive of the shooting is still unknown.

The Police in Gulu are hunting for a soldier attached to 4th Division Barracks in Gulu after he allegedly shot three people dead.

It is alleged that Corporal Geoffrey Okello shot dead, Beatrice Ajok, Joachim Dan Binyang and Norman Owen, a senior six student of Pope John Paul School in Nakaseke. The three were shot from Pece Vanguard in Pece Division in Gulu Municipality.

The Monday evening incident also left eight-year-old Peace Apwoyorwot, with injuries. The child was rushed for treatment at St. Mary's Hospital Lacor.

The Aswa River regional Police Spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema, said Apwoyorwot, who lost a significant amount of blood, is in a stable condition at the hospital.

According to Okema, Corporal Okello is on the run and the motive of the shooting is still unknown.

The Police visited the scene and recovered three bodies that have been taken to Gulu Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
