The Rt. Rev. Dr. James Bukomeko was on Sunday consecrated and installed as the fifth Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Mityana. He took over jurisdiction of the diocese from Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba, who was recently elected by the House of Bishops as the 9th Archbishop of the Church of the Province of Uganda. The function held at Mityana Secondary School Sports Ground, Namukozi was presided over by the out-going Archbishop, Stanley Ntagali. It was graced by over 30 Anglican Bishops. Muslims clerics, Catholic priests, politicians, business practitioners and students were among the massive congregation that graced the function. Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda represented President Museveni, who donated to Bukomeko a brand-new car. Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga also represented Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi of Buganda.
