Kubo exhibits class at Kisugu weightlifting Open

Weightlifters exhibited talent at the Kisugu Unified Open Bonanza that ushered in the 2020 calendar for the sport.

All Africa Games three bronze medal winner Zubair Kubo proved he is still on course to chase for qualification to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after impressing the technical staff of the Uganda Weightlifting Federation after the competition.

He lifted a total of 302 kg, adding 1kg to what he achieved in Morocco last August.

Kubo is now looking forward to participating in the ISSF Weightlifting Championships in Azerbaijan due February, 8-13 with others as the Ugandan lifters look for the needed points to qualify for the Olympics.

The females include Aisha Namataka who lifted (125kg), Hadija Nankanja (120 kg) and Lydia Nakidde (115 kg).
