Rugunda in Djibouti for education forum

The President of Djibouti Omar Ismail Guelleh invited Museveni in recognition of Uganda's strides in promoting balanced and inclusive education especially through Universal Primary Education.

 
Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda is in Djibouti to represent President Yoweri Museveni during a high level forum on balanced and inclusive education. 
 
The meeting organised by the  Education Relief Foundation (ERF) an international organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland and the Government of Djibouti, aims to mobilise global attention to the need for an education system that leaves no one behind.

The Forum that runs from 27th to 29th January 2020 is aimed at developing strategies for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) on inclusive and equitable quality education.  At the same forum, countries are expected to sign  the Universal Declaration of Balanced and Inclusive Education. 
 
Prime Minister Rugunda will make a country presentation on Uganda's journey towards universal and inclusive education, outlining the success story of Universal Primary and Secondary Education. 
 
Participants will share experiences, best practices, and develop efficient collaborations in balanced and inclusive education. 
 
The Education Relief Foundation has been organising a series of high-level consultations on Balanced and Inclusive Education (BIE) in Sub Saharan Africa, South East Asia, Latin America and Europe. 
 
In 2017, it hosted the First Forum BIE at the United Nations in Geneva (UNOG).
 
The Second Forum BIE  was convened in Mexico City from 20-22 November 2018. The Forum concluded with the signing of the International Call for Balanced and Inclusive Education - an expression of a collective aspiration for Balanced and Inclusive Education.
 
The ERF was mandated to prepare a formal draft of a Universal Declaration of Balanced and Inclusive Education, through a series of international, regional and local consultations.
