Chibita cautioned both the judicial officers and prosecutors to retain and uphold the highest ethical standards while exercising their duties so that the public gets free and fair justice.

The new Supreme Court judge, Justice Mike Chibita has visited Nabweru Chief Magistrates' Court and tipped its staff to observe the highest ethical standards.

On his arrival, Chibita, a former DPP first had a private meeting with state prosecutors led by the Nabweru resident state attorney, Timothy Amerit, later the Chief Magistrate, Patricia Amoko and then openly met all court officials.

The visit comes shortly after Nabweru court has just received a new resident state attorney, Amerit on instructions to retain justice and sanity in the DPP's office at the court which had been blemished.

Chibita cautioned both the judicial officers and prosecutors to retain and uphold the highest ethical standards while exercising their duties so that the public gets free and fair justice.

"Keep the highest ethical standards and deliver justice to the public without bias," Chibita said.

He urged all the court officers to be decent, presentable and exercise their work professionally in order for the public to regain trust.

"You are not among the best paid but that should not be an excuse, be courteous among each other and professionally handle cases. Leave your problems home and always have a smile while handling vulnerable people who need justice," he added.

Chibita also applauded the magistrates and the state prosecutors for having brought back sanity at Nabweru Court having been implicated in bribe scandals arising out of investigations conducted by the Vision Group and the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) last year.

"It's so promising and encouraging that we no longer have complaints from the public about this court, keep that spirit endeavor to deliver justice to the vulnerable who really deserve it," he said.
