A heated debate is anticipated as the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) meet in an Extra-Ordinary assembly to approve the nominated members on the electoral committee at Lugogo on Saturday.

The agenda of the day is to approve the electoral committee that is meant to continue with the electoral process. However, some members want the whole electoral process that started early this month quashed and a new one put in place.

A source in the executive disclosed that the management led by Dusman Okee decided to maintain the old committee that has Willy Ochola, Frank Obbo and Oscar Ssemweya Musoke who conducted the previous election in 2016.

"The whole process is a nullity and we feel that after the electoral commission has been put in place, the whole process should start afresh," one of the contestants said.

However, his opinion differs from that of the federation secretary Joseph Mwangala and his team who feel that after the committee has been appointed, it should continue with the process.

"Yes we might have not captured all the constitutional closes, but maturity and the spirit of the sport should prevail, so that we do away with the process for people to start work," Mwangala explained.

The nomination for the candidates closed on January 7, with four showing interest in the top seat of the president while Hussein Kato was unopposed on the post of Deputy vice president in charge of Vintage and Road safety.
