GOLF SINGLETON CHALLENGE
Richard Lutwama and Robert Busingye will soon enjoy the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in Dubai January 20-27 following their victory in the Singleton Golf Challenge last year.
But there will be no time to rest for the defending champions as they will soon after return, take on Gregg Paterson and Nicholus Hercules in the fourth edition's first-round due on February 8 at Entebbe Club.
The two pairs were among the sixty drawn on Saturday following a qualifier that attracted a record 231 golfers at Entebbe Club.
Among the pairings are six women teams including that of 2018 winner Sheilla Kesiime who this time will partner with Gloria Mbaguta as they take on Phillip Walera/Jackie Kamunyu.. Wendy Angudeyo and Doreen Mwesigye, quarter finalists last year have an early date with Eva Magala/Irene Nakalembe who finished third in the 2018 edition.
Lillian Koowe/Bridget Basiima will entertain Josef Salani/James Eyul as Rita Apell/Aidhah Khamis face-off with Denis Oola/Ronald Kasozi.
Other interesting matches that fans can't wait to watch include that of Yunus Bbaale/Michael Tumusiime versus Charles Hamya/Joseph Bogera, Oscar Semawere/Marvin Kagoro versus John Katto/Ancel Tumwesigye and that of Paul Nsereko/Enock Mugisha versus Caroline Namutebi/Judith Komugisha.
Michael Alunga topped the men's Group A in the subsidiary event winning himself a night for two at the Serena Hotel just like Meron Kyomugisha who won the ladies version.
Group B winners and runners up in both the men and ladies categories won DStv Premium and Compact packages while the second runners up will enjoy rounds of golf at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa.
It was all pomp and glamour after the qualifier on the 19th hole as the golfers all dressed in white adhered to the night's theme.
Eddy Kenzo later stirred up the house with some of his electrifying hits amid comic performances from the golfers and emcee of the night comedian Salvador.
A brand new Mitsubishi Pajero 2020 model for a hole-in-one is the main attraction for this year's edition but the ultimate prize remains a fully paid golfing trip to watch the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in Dubai next January.
There are also air tickets to destinations like Mombasa, Cape Town, London, Nairobi, and Kigali courtesy of RwandAir on top of monthly subscription packages on DStv, golfing experiences at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort, golf accessories, and HTC goodies.
