The Bishop of the Orthodox diocese of Gulu, Northern and Eastern Uganda, His Grace Silvestros Kisitu, has asked Ugandans to be mindful of the needs of others, especially the poor and the disadvantaged.
The Prelate also asked Ugandans to abandon bad habits and embrace a new lifestyle of holiness and hard work, in order to get peace and prosperity in the New Year.
Kisitu was delivering his homily during the Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, Namungoona, in Rubaga Division, on Sunday (December 29).
During the mass, the Orthodox Christians, who subscribe to the old calendar of St. Julian, also celebrated their Christmas Day. They also commemorated the little children who were killed by King Herod.
The Liturgy was also graced by the Metropolitan of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala and All Uganda, His Eminence Jonah Lwanga, who wished Ugandans a happy and fruitful New Year.
