9:17 am | Of prayers, music and fireworks
Tuesday night all the way into Wednesday morning was a period of a cocktail of activities.
The men of God, musicians and glitzy fireworks did well to light up the Ugandan skies in various parts of the country. Of course, most of the activities were concentrated in the capital Kampala, where visiting Congolese soukous musician, Kanda Bongo Man gave his fans a taste of his music.
Take a look HERE.

8:30 am | Immersed in prayer and worship
So how did you welcome 2020?
Engaged in late-night prayers at your church? Got groovy over your favorite musician's hits at a night spot? Or did you stay home with family?
Well, personally, I made it to Mt. Sion Prayer Centre, Bukalango in Wakiso district to join thousands of faithful to usher in a fresh year. I left the crowded prayer mountain at around 5:30am to report for duty.
So if my WrItInG gets a bit wobbly along the way, blame it on my groggy eyes after a night fully awake. But no worries, I will attempt to keep myself alert enough to keep you up-to-date with what's happening around the country today.

8:25 am | A brand-new morning
Do you remember the last time you unwrapped a gift?
Oh wait, look at me now! Boxing Day was only six days ago - and I am sure your fingers enjoyed ripping apart that gift wrapper to get to your surprise item.
Was it a shirt?
A necklace, perhaps?
Maybe you found inside a beautiful set of cutlery or crockery?
Anyway, whatever it was, it must have smelled brand-new, yes?
Now then, does today smell brand-new to you?
Why do I ask, you ask?
OK if I should bring you up to speed, you may want to know that today - Wednesday - is the first day of a fresh year: 2020.
Typically, here in Kampala, the hours leading to the ushering in of a new year are jam-packed with a wide-ranging activities at entertainment or recreational locations and at prayer places.
It was no different on Tuesday - New Year's Eve.
