The Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances under which a retired UPDF army officer-Corporal Patrick Mugume, 45, was murdered by unknown criminals.
The Kigezi Police Spokesperson Elly Maate, tells New Vision, that the deceased has been a resident of Rugoma cell Southern Ward, Kebisoni town Council.
He says Mugume, allegedly left his home claiming he was heading to the clinic to pick some medicine on the 12/12/2919 at around 08:00 hours, but instead went to the bar of one Sarah and drunk until morning.
Faith Akatusasira, the deceased's wife revealed that she tried to follow him to see whether he had continued to the clinic and when she realised he had entered into the bar, she decided to ignore him and went back home.
"I waited for him to come back home but all was in vain! This prompted me to report a case of disappearance at Kebisoni Police Station vide CRR 125/19," she said.
With the help of Police, the family started tracing for him until the 17/12/2019 and at around 18:30 hours, his body was found lying in Nyakahanga swamp in Rugoma cell.
Maate says the body was taken to Rwakabengo health center III pending postmortem, as inquiries go on vide CRB 1873/2019.
