Museveni hails East Africa parliamentarians on sports

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed participants in the ongoing East African Community Inter-Parliamentary games for putting up tremendous performances.
Museveni was speaking to the participants on Tuesday during the East African Community Inter-Parliamentary games at Lugogo were he also watched an exhibition match between Uganda and Tanzania in women volleyball.
"I have not watched Volleyball for the last 53 years. I last watched volleyball in 1967. I have been reminded that volleyball also has a lot of skills like I have seen today since these girls were throwing the ball well.
"I thought we footballers are the ones with skills. So I congratulate you. When it comes to competition between Uganda and Tanzania me, I'm a Ugandan but also Tanzanian," he added.
Speaker of Parliament of Uganda Rebecca Kadaga and that of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Martin Ngoga and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania Ackson Tulia were some the officials that welcomed the President at Lugogo.
These games are aimed at strengthening the relations between the Parliaments in the East African Community as well as strengthening the East African integration.
The 11-day competition that climaxes on Wednesday has attracted participants from the five national parliaments of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, and EALA (East African Legislative Assembly).

By press time on Tuesday, Uganda was on its way to winning its fourth consecutive overall title.
