Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire told New Vision in a phone interview that the mother and the child were electrocuted after their house flooded while they slept.

"I am told two people died. It seems the water tampered with the wiring system, resulting in a short circuit," Owoyesigyire said.

Sections of central Uganda woke up to heavy rains which resulted in many areas being flooded.

Owoyesigyire promised to give a detailed report later.
