National Inter-University Games start December 15

University of Kisubi, who will host the bi-annual games, will field five teams.

University of Kisubi (UniK) sports tutor Edward Mugyenyi believes his institution will scoop a number of gold during this year's National Inter-University Games due December 15-20.

Unik, who will host the bi-annual games, will field five teams.

"We are glad to be this year's hosts. Our theme will be ‘Celebrating sports and science innovation'. I am so confident in the five disciplines we have specialized in," said Mugyenyi.

He added: "We have prepared our students for the games that we will not only be hosting but participating in for the first time."

UniK will field teams in swimming, football, netball, chess and pool table. Athletics, handball, wood ball, rugby, scrabble, badminton, basketball tennis, table tennis, darts, karate,taekwondo, weight lifting and volleyball are the other disciplines.

"We look forward to giving sports bursaries to students who will have performed well at senior six and are so good in sports after the games, so that we can have teams in a wide number of sports disciplines," Mugyenyi added.
