Anite celebrates husband's graduation, praises him

When we got married we had both acquired our first degrees and we took a decision together to go back to school and upgrade.

Minister of state for investments and privatization, Evelyn Anite smiled from ear to ear as her husband's name was mentioned for the conferment of a master's degree in organization and public sector management.

Overwhelmed by Joy, she sprung from her sit in the VIP tent, dashed to where her husband, Allan Kajik was standing, and before all and sundry, gave him a tight passionate embrace.

The graduates, there parents and the top echelon of the university, broke into loud applause, ululating and clapping there hands as the lovebirds hugged.

Blushing, Anite told New Vision how excited and proud she was for her husband's achievement.

"When we got married we had both acquired our first degrees and we took a decision together to go back to school and upgrade," she said.

Anite noted that they followed through with the decision, investing in there education and supporting each other throughout the study period. This enabled her to complete her masters at the Tufts and Harvard Universities, USA.

"I am excited about myself and also about him because he has not only been a husband to me, he has been a coach. He was doing his studies and making sure that he helps me do my studies alongside my ministerial responsibilities. I wondered how he would do it in two years but he is done," she noted.

She described her husband as a determined and very focused person who would wake up every day at five o'clock to read.

"We are done with this because I am tired of the alarm clock ringing in my ears every morning at 5 o'clock, the time he has to wake up and go and read. Today marks the end of that alarm clock ringing in my ears," she told New Vision.

"All I wish for him is to put all the knowledge that he has acquired in developing his country," she said.

Kajik, was among the eight students who graduated with a master's of science in organization and public sector management.

"It is a great achievement. I hope I add to the development of this country especially in the public sector. That is my area of specialization. I want to contribute the knowledge that I have attained from the university to transform our society," he told journalists shortly after receiving his award.

Kajik said he is looking forward to contributing to the improvement of service delivery in the energy sector where he works.

Hinting on his marriage, he said he is looking forward to being a better husband, noting that the studies had made him too busy to give time to his family.

In it's 16th graduation, Kyambogo is passing out 8892 students out of which 4877 are male and 4015 female. 187 students got first-class degrees with the best student George William Kasaazi scoring a CGPA of 4.88 out of 5.0.

Prof. Elly Katunguka, the Vice-Chancellor of the University said they are retaining all there first classes under the graduate fellows program, where the students are offered work and an opportunity to pursue a master's study.

The University, for the first time, graduated Ph.D. students, Micheal Bamuwamye and Samuel Gafuma. The duo was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in Food Technology.

The graduation which started yesterday will end on Friday.
