KCCA FC juniors thump URA to extend lead in FJL

Dec 02, 2019

In the Hattrick Group, leaders Busoga United played to a 1-1 draw with BUL while Mbarara City beat Kyetume 2-0.

Sunday Opio and Oscar Mawa were in fine form as KCCA FC Soccer Academy extended their lead in the Treble group following their 11-0 victory over URA in the FUFA Junior U-17 League.

Opio and Mawa were on top of their game grabbing a hat-trick each as KCCA moved to 16 points, two above second-placed Bright Stars who defeated Wakiso Giants 2-0.

Jerome Otim scored a brace before  Dominic Ayella, Simon Mukisa and Elvis Mwanje added the other goals for KCCA who are in search of their first trophy despite playing in three finals.

The FUFA Junior league caters for players under 17 years and it was an obligation for all the 16 premier league sides to have one before they could be licensed for the new season.

The players in this league have a chance of playing for the junior and senior sides of their respective teams.

A team that wins with more than a two-goal margin, is awarded four points instead of three from a particular match.

In the Hattrick Group, leaders Busoga United played to 1-1 draw with BUL while Mbarara City beat Kyetume 2-0.

At the end of the season, the top sides from each of the groups meet in the final to decide the champion of the league. BUL defeated KCCA FC 3-0 last season to win the title.
