On Monday, November 25, Komakech and three others Joseph Wafula, Douglas Omona and the canoe operator Douglas Omona went for a boat cruise on river Aswa.

The Uganda Police Marine has retrieved the body of Charles Komakech who went missing after a canoe he was in with his friends capsized in River Aswa in Pader district.

On Monday, November 25, Komakech and three others Joseph Wafula, Douglas Omona and the canoe operator Douglas Omona went for a boat cruise on river Aswa.

When the canoe capsized, Onen and Omona survived while Komakech and Wafula, unfortunately, went missing.

The missing persons who were presumed to have drowned forced the police in Pader to call for police marine divers from Kampala to search for the missing bodies.

The team of divers arrived on Wednesday and started the search for the missing bodies.

According to Peter Mwesigwa the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) of Angagura Sub County in Pader district, one body was recovered. The body was later identified as Komakech's by his family.

The Aswa river regional police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema said the body was taken to Gulu regional referral hospital for postmortem.

"Sadly, the body of Wafula has not yet been recovered but, the search is still on," Okema noted
