The Mufti, Uganda Muslim supreme council, Sheik Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje has asked political leaders in Arua to unite Muslims.

This was during the inauguration of the Regional Khadi in  West Nile, Sheik Mahdie Mahmood Raihan and his deputy Sheik  Swaib Alahay Achiga at Arua Primary School playground recently.

Sheik Mubajje said the conflict is a result of the former caretaker of Arua district Khadi Sheik Abdullai Vuni who missed appointment due to lack of academic qualifications.

"This disunity is brought about by the fact that we are strict and we appoint those that qualify they could not qualify that is why they resorted to the Kibuli sect", he said.

He however said some politicians and the Kibuli sect are also supporting the conflict instead of discouraging it.

He said people should not politicise the Islam religion especially politicians and mentioned that the Muslims are united except a few who are disgruntled.

"If you want to be in the position of a district Khadi please go to school then we will duly appoint you as one", he said

He called upon Ugandans to love one another despite their differences in religion tribe and politics.

The newly inaugurated regional Khadi West Nile, Sheik Mahdie Mahmood Raihan said his first agenda is to reconcile the two conflicting parties in Arua.

He requested MPs in the region to ensure that they solve the conflict of Arua district Khadi, Sheik Shaban Abujaffer and the Khadi Arua, Kibuli Sect Sheik Abdullai Vuni.

"Nobody can come and solve our problems, we are the solutions to our own problems", He said.

He implored the Kibuli sect in Arua not to create their own Mulsim region because it will generate more conflict in West Nile.

The state minister for investment Evelyn Anite who represented  President Yoweri Museveni in the inauguration asked Muslims in the Kibuli faction to study and get academic qualifications.

"Education is the key to success, how do you expect to lead people when you cannot speak the English language, how will you communicate to people that cannot speak the local language?" she asked.

Anite told investors to leave mosques in Arua municipality and get alternative land for development.

"We don't encourage investors to grab land from religious institutions, we will give them alternative land, I would not want to go to hell because we gave land to investors", she added.

She was hinting at Arua Municipality MP Kassiano Wadri's speech that spelt out the challenges facing Muslims in Arua.

Wadri reiterated the need to respect places of worship and ensure that they remain intact because fraudsters have claimed ownership of two mosques in Arua town.
