Road to the Nile Corporate gala starts with a bang

The first-ever Road To The Nile Corporate Gala happened last Saturday at the Dam Waters football pitch in Jinja.  

The event started as early as 8:00 am, with corporate teams arriving in buses and taxis, as well as other cars. The MC than announced the first session of the day, which was aerobics. The event had many team building facets. We were there to witness and bring you the results.

The participants in the aerobics session were than instructed to joint the aerobics coach in one of the spaces at the far end of the pitch. Because football was about to start. Many women and men sweated it out in the early morning, performing different drills before retreating to there various tents to rest and watch the rest of the games.

There was also a self-defense instructor, who took the participants through various basic defense training.

Spiritual and mental Wellness 10\10
When it came to the spiritual and mental wellness drills, women were there for spiritual wellness and were directed to a spot next to the River Nile, where the meditation and yoga classes were taking place. The sessions took about 2 hours.

Competitiveness
The real action was on the pitch, as 20 corporate companies from both jinja and Kampala tussled it out for 4 Million SHS. By the time they played the semifinals, it was dark, and Robertson Wine had outshone everyone because of there style of play.

They'd overcome Jinja Veterans, Nsambya NV Medics, and Bidco in group stages. They struggled to get past Stanbic Bank, who were bigger in physique, but after outplaying them, they ousted them in penalties, when Robertson Wine shot-stopper Eva Othienno blocked two penalties from Stanbic Bank.

Entertainment
After the gala, the renowned DJ's took to the stage to entertain the crowd. Many players didn't even change from there sports kit and went straight to the dance floor. Local artistes from Jinja also performed to entertain the crowd on the same evening.

Speaking to the press at the event; the Marketing Director of Adris Digital Africa, (the company organizing the Road To The Nile gala,) Michael Wangubo said that it was only the start, and the next edition in February will be even better.

"We will have a bigger after party. The drinks will be cheaper. And we will have more performances. But most importantly, we will beef up the personnel handling the experiences," Wangubo explained.

There were lots of other fun and mind games, like human-size chess and draughts, as well as the many people's favorite, the mini-turf golf competition.
