Cleopatra Koheirwe, the Public Relations Manager, StarTimes, said they believe in empowering the future generation of leaders through giving the needy children an opportunity to learn.

 
StarTimes in partnership with the television and drama production organisations from China have donated scholastic materials to Crane Education Centre, a school for the needy in Wakaliga, Kampala district.
 
The items include books, pens, pencils, school bags and among others which are meant to boost the academic performance of the needy pupils.
 
Speaking during the handover ceremony recently, Cleopatra Koheirwe, the Public Relations Manager, StarTimes, said they believe in empowering the future generation of leaders through giving the needy children an opportunity to learn.
 
"We have has a good relationship with this school, I hope the support we are giving today will go a long way to improve literacy, better grades and good performance in class," she said.

Koheirwe added that StarTimes started a partnership with the school way back to strengthen Chinese ties in film and television production, action movies like Kungu fu, teach Chinese culture and among others hence promoting the movies industry in Uganda.
 
Some of the film and television organisations that visited the school are; StarTimes Group, Daylight Entertainment Company limited, Shanghai Linmon Pictures Company Limited, Hangzhou Jiaping Pictures Company Limited, Ciwen Media Group Company Limited and National Radio and Television Administration.
 
Isaac Geoffrey Godfrey Nabwana, director, Wakaliwood and Cranes Educational Centre School thanked them for the support and asked them to continue giving them a helping hand so that every child can get the basic education.

"My special thanks go to StarTimes and film and drama organizations who endeavoured to travel all the way from China to Uganda to support us, my dream is to see every needy child in this area attain education. So far I have 270 pupils which is an overwhelming number. I would like to appeal the Chinese government to continue supporting us so that we can make the future of these children bright," he said
 
Nabwana also urged parents to educate their children so that they can atleast learn how to speak English and express themselves when an opportunity arises.
