FUFA DRUM Competition is back

FUFA acting President Justus Mugisha highlighted the fruits of the championship saying that it has created unity among the people.

 
Group A: Buganda, Acholi, Tooro & Busoga
 
Group B: West Nile, Lango, Bukedi & Bugisu
 
The organisers of the FUFA Drum Competition have explained changes in the playing format and indicated this is aimed at giving the tournament more coverage and excitement to the fans.
 
This was revealed by the chairman of the organizing committee Rogers Byamukama during the draws conducted at FUFA House, Mengo.
 
"As FUFA, we are proud of the journey so far since the inception of the tournament last year. There are very many positives we have registered and hope there is more to come. We have made changes in the playing format to bring about excitement and more coverage for the games. We thank FUFA and the government of Uganda for the amount of resources they have committed towards Drum since the start and we are optimistic that before the last phase of this year's tournament gets underway, we will have a title sponsor on board," stated Byamukama.
 
In the draws conducted, defending champions Buganda has been placed in Group A with Acholi, Tooro, and Busoga while Group B will comprise of  last season's runners up West Nile, Lango, Bukedi and Bugisu
 
However, FUFA acting President Justus Mugisha highlighted the fruits of the championship saying that it has created unity among the people.
 
"We have some regions which have been divided by tribal conflicts as well as politics but this competition has helped to bring unity in such regions," Mugisha noted.
 
The matches will commence on November 21 with the final expected to be played on November 30. The winner will get a cash prize of 30 million shillings.
 
The competition that is played between 16 provinces of Uganda is aimed at taking the game to the masses and its theme is ‘Celebrating Our Ancestry'.
 
Buganda Province went down in the books of history as the maiden winners of the FUFADrum tournament. They edged past West Nile 2-1 on aggregate in the final to win the inaugural edition of the inter-province championship. Government and FIFA are part of the sponsors of the competition.
