Two men were arrested and detained at Kajjansi Police Station on Thursday evening after the Police recovered two guns with five ammunitions each, from Kawuku on Entebbe Road, in Katabi town council, Wakiso district.
According to Luke Owoyesigire the Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson, the two suspects were arrested after Allan Mwesigwa a resident of Bwebajja, reported a case of aggravated robbery where a group of about seven men armed with guns and machetes attacked him at his home and robbed several items.
"This robbery happened on Thursday at around 10 am," stated Owoyesigire adding that, neighbours managed to spot one of the robbers who was identified as Nsubuga.
"Upon his arrest, Nsubuga led the police team, to areas of Kawuku and Kitara both in Katabi town council, from where two guns and machetes were recovered among other items," he added.
One of the guns was a Sub Machine Gun (SMG) UG PSO 5653402715-07503 plus a Semi-Automatic Rifle PSO 12127374-03501.
Other items recovered include a television set, bags, new clothes, ladies jewellery, laptop, mobile phones, a new mattress and car keys.
A source privy to investigations intimated that the Police also recovered a chart with the message ‘They should release Omumbere'.
According to the source, this was recovered in a shrine located behind Shell petrol station at Kitara on Entebbe Road.
"Last month, after the robbery incident of Fortbet in the same area of Kitara, we recovered a bag containing receipts of Link bus company showing transportation payment of Kampala-Kasese routes. We also recovered army uniforms among other items," said the source.
About the Thursday robbery incident, Owesigire said, the guns and machetes were to be subjected to forensics for proof of possible murder incidences.
The two suspects are still detained at Kajjansi Police Station while the search for other suspects who are still at large continues.
