Magogo confesses to selling World Cup tickets

World football governing body-FIFA has confirmed the two-month suspension of FUFA president Moses Magogo over the alleged sale of 2014 FIFA World Cup tickets.

This was revealed in a media release seen by New Vision from FIFA Ethics Committee under the adjudicatory chamber.

 "The chairman of the adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee has ratified the plea bargain entered into by Mr. Moses Hassim Magogo, President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations and member of the Confederation of African Football Executive Committee, and the chairperson of the investigatory chamber", read part of the communication from FIFA Ethics Committee

The committee also revealed that an investigation into the case of Magogo was opened on July 23, 2018, related to the resale of 2014 FIFA World Cup tickets.

In accordance with article 67 par.1 of the FIFA Code of Ethics, the parties mutually agreed on the following sanctions:

Magogo will be fined $10,000 and a two-month suspension from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level.

The suspension became effective upon the validation of the agreement by the chairman of the adjudicatory chamber on 10 October 2019.

The case against Magogo to FIFA was filed by Makindye West Member of Parliament, Allan Ssewanyana in 2017.

Ssewanyana, who also doubles as the chairman of FUFA Big League side Katwe United FC petitioned FIFA claiming that Magogo was involved in the illicit trading of 2014 World Cup tickets that were designated for Ugandans.

The Shadow Minister for Sports in Parliament, pleaded to FIFA, arguing that this was in violation and breach of the FIFA statutes, FIFA Code of Ethics and FIFA Disciplinary Code.

Magogo recently announced his intentions to unseat Godfrey Dhamuzungu in Budiope county, Kamuli district in the forthcoming general elections.
