Police lauds Cheptegei for Doha exploits

He shrugged off the challenge of Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha and Kenya’s Rhonex Kipruto to secure the 10000m gold medal

Uganda Police Force has congratulated Joshua Cheptegei upon winning the 10000m gold in the just concluded IAAF World Championships.

"Cheptegei became the first Police inspector to win 10,000m gold. He used all the techniques and tactics that he acquired from his training and career," Enanga said during the weekly Police briefing on Monday.

Enanga said Cheptegei's win was a huge achievement for both himself and the country at large which he made proud.

Cheptegei shrugged off the challenge of Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha and Kenya's Rhonex Kipruto to secure the win.

In 2017 he became a 10,000m silver medallist at the 10,000m run at the IAAF World Championships in London.

Enanga said the Police will continue to support Cheptegei and all the sportsmen who compete under the Police flag so as to boost sports in the country.
