According to USF secretary, Moses Mwase, the event starts with an opening ceremony before the competitions starts at exactly 9 am.

The 18th edition of the Schools Independent Swimming Gala on Saturday at Kampala International School promises to be highly competitive event.

This is based on fact that the top swimming schools including Vienna College, Kibuli Secondary, Kampala Junior and hosts KISU have their target set on dethroning defending champions Aga Khan School.

The event that is organised by Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) and supported by EXCEL Insurance and Brookside Diary company has attracted over 25 schools and close to 400 swimmers.

With last year's runners-up, British School of Uganda, Gems Cambridge International School, Makerere University, Bethel International School, Kibuli, Kampala Junior, Ndejje University and Vienna College participating, the event is set to be so competitive.

According to USF secretary, Moses Mwase, the event starts with an opening ceremony before the competitions starts at exactly 9 am.

"We are having different categories and we expect all schools to keep time so that we can run through our schedule as programmed," Mwase said.

"We are convinced that the swimmers have been practicing and will give us value for our time, because many are targeting to improve their personal best time while others look at setting national records."

USF President Dr. Donald Rukare thanked EXCEL insurance for the support and urged other corporates to support these future generations identify their target.

EXCEL Insurance Marketing Manager promised USF continued support, because it is not only giving back to the community but also giving the future generation the opportunity to identify and nurture their talents.
