Uganda Cranes sponsors welcome new coach

Cranes sponsors Airtel have re-echoed their commitment to supporting Ugandan football following the signing of Coach Johnny Mckinstry.
 
Airtel Managing Director V.G Somasekhar made this pledge while meeting the new Uganda Cranes and U23 coach, Mckinstry and FUFA officials, at the Airtel Uganda head offices.
 
The commitment comes at the heels of the just conclude nationwide Airtel Rising Stars national U-17 boys and girls football tournament and the ongoing Airtel Masaza Cup whose finals will be on October 26 at Namboole.
 
Somasekhar welcomed the new coach and wished him the best asserting that; "Airtel Uganda welcomes Mckinstry to Uganda and we wish him all the best as he seeks to build on the recent successes of the Uganda Cranes as well as contribute to the development of football in the country.
 
"We will continue to provide all the necessary support to ensure that our sport grows further and we achieve more in the country and also on a continental level."
 
Mckinstry promised to build on previous achievements and work closely with Airtel Uganda to ensure the growth of youth football in Uganda.
 
The young tactician beat 137 coaches that applied to the job. He has been head coach at Bangladesh entity Saif Sporting Club having previously handled the Sierra Leone and Rwanda national teams. McKinstry's immediate assignment is the second leg of the CHAN 2020 qualifier as the Cranes host Burundi in Kampala, having won the first leg 3-0 in Bujumbura.
