New records in abundance as Seals League 3 ends

Mudanye began her record setting spree when she rewrote her own record in the 200m breaststroke where she clocked 3:19.52 to better her previous time by 7.84 seconds in the girls’ 9-10 category.
A number of records were broken and new ones set as the Seals League Meet 3 ended at the Kampala Parents School swimming pool on Sunday.
Seals Swim Club's Amelia Mudanye and Dolphins Swim Club's Adnan Kabuye set the most records over the two-day event alongside Daniel Nuwagaba, Neema Kangi, John Kafumbe, Daya Mpeera Yalonda and a host of other swimmers from the top two swimming clubs.
Mudanye began her record setting spree when she rewrote her own record in the 200m breaststroke where she clocked 3:19.52 to better her previous time by 7.84 seconds in the girls' 9-10 category. Raya Angemi of the silver fin who finished second was also saw a 45microsecond improvement of the old record.
She then broke Natalie Lutalo's 1: 27.33 over the 100m Individual Medley, setting a new time of 1:24.44, before she made 1:27.80 to better Dolphins' Karima Katemba's 1:34.96 set in the same meet last year.

Simmona Kagugube's and Dolphins' Tendo Atia who finished second and third with a time of 1:32.71 and 1:32.76 time respectively was also under the previous record.
On his part Kabuye re-set Silverfin's Samora Lumonya's 200m breaststroke record of 2:45.77 with 2:44.40 before he also bettered Tendo Mukalazi's 200m IM time of 2:27.87 by 3.51 seconds.
In the 50m freestyle event, Kabuye and Mukalazi touched home at the same time in 25.29 but the time was also another record over the distance bettering Aquatics' Eloi Maniraguha's 28.42.
In the girls' 13-14 years category Neema Kangi's 3:06.34 on the day was better than Kirabo Namutebi's previuos record of 3:12.46. Siverfin's Karla Mugisha and Dolphins' Nanette Nsereko made 3:22.82 and 3:23.12 respectively.

Africa's junior gold medalist Kirabo Namutebi made a show in the 50m freestyle setting a new record of 27.24 bettering Mercedes Mwebeiha's 31.61. Neema Kangi (30.24) and Karla Mugisha's (30.40) times were also under the previous record.
