Kasozi picks 80 points from Safari Tour second leg

Kasozi who finished 13th in the Uganda Open is placed ninth among the Safari Tour players.
Uganda professional golfer Phillip Kasozi picked 80 points from the second leg of the Safari Tour which was also the Uganda Professionals Open played at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa.
After the event that ended on Saturday, Kasozi who finished 13th in the Uganda Open is placed ninth among the Safari Tour players but the first among the Ugandans on the tour, who will continue competing in the remaining ten events to accumulate points that will count towards participation in next year's Kenya Magical Open.
The top two non-Kenyans from the tour will get entry into the Kenya Open while there are eight slots for the Kenyan nationals. Only members of the Safari Tour earn points.
After the Nyali and Serena legs, Kenya's Greg Snow leads the tour standings with 135 points, having collected 60 and 85 points respectively from the two legs.
Rizwan Charania is second on 129 points, Simon Ngige third on 122.6, Erick Obura fourth on 110.5 while Dismas Indiza who finished fourth in the Uganda Open picked the maximum 100 points from the Serena leg and is now fifth.
Kopan Timbe (95.1pts), Njuguna Ngugi (88pts), Mohit Mediratta (85pts) and C.J Wangai (73pts) lie sixth, seventh, eighth and tenth respectively.

Addressing the pros at Serena on Saturday, the tournament director of Magical Kenya Open and the Safari Tour, Patrick Obath said the event was started by Kenya Open Golf Limited last year with an objective of creating an opportunity for professional golfers in East Africa to be able to play competitively on internationally prepared courses and also earn money.
"The Uganda Open had the highest number of points within the Safari Tour because of the level of prize money that the Uganda Open has; so please continue playing and accumulate points that will allow us to select players who will be playing in the Kenya Open," Obath stated.
The tour will continue at the Royal Golf Club Nairobi from October 12-16 before returning to Uganda at the Entebbe Golf Club from October 30-November 2. It will then return to Serena from November 6-9, after which it will make stops at the Great Rift Valley and Muthaiga Golf Clubs before breaking for Christmas on December 18.
Serena will host the would-be Rwanda leg for this year because they don't have an 18-hole golf course.
